got me a jumbo

Post by fuzzking » Thu May 15, 2008 11:55 pm

i got this a few weeks ago but never managed to upload any pics, so here we are:

orang goreng posted a pic of a sunburst jumbo a while ago (was it an ibanez?) and i loved the look of it but hated the integrated tuner.

a little later i found this on the bay (in switzerland) - retail price was something like 320 € and i got it for 150 €. i don't know too much
about acoustics, but i think it sounds rather okay (we'll see in 3-4 years). the neck is straight, action a bit on the high side (would be easy to
fix, but i'm playing a lot of slide on it, so it's just what i need). overall build quality is good.

i think these are korean made student guitars - the sticker that came with it said "designed in japan" which suggests it wasn't made in japan.

it's really nice to have an acoustic around again.  :)

Nice one! I love jumbos, nice fat sound. I been drooling over a Guild at the local shop. My ex broke my acoustic so I need a new one.

Nice Jumbo sound

how could she do that? my ex broke my sampler, haha. but it was unintentional.
i figured i'd never get one of the more expensive models, because i only pick up the acoustic every now and then.
but indeed, the big sound is great to sing along to, instead of just being able to mumble over an unplugged electric.

but wow - i never knew the guy is that good. only know their first album...

I donno how it happened, I just looked one day and there was a hole in the side of it. It was a cheapy anyways, like you I don't use acoustic to mutch but like to have one. That song is off Howl, very good record. People tend to dismiss BRMC as JAMC clones, but I don't see it. But then I'm quite the fan.

I like Howl. I wasn't so sure to begin with but its really grown on me.

All their albums get better with age I reckon.

Got their first EP (Screaming Gun) the other day. Great stuff.

All this talk of acoustics is making me pine for the Hummingbird I never got!!

Plus I'm selling my classical!! I'll be acoustc-less within a week. Gulp.

It was a big change in direction for them, took a few listens to take it all in.

Sounds like a good excuse to buy new gear  ;)

thanks -

it shurely can't compete with more sophisticated acoustics, but it's really okay for my needs.
the best one i had so far. that should do.
