I have this homemade 1x12 with Black Shadow c90 in it that I use with my JCM800 2204 as my main live amp/cab setup. The cab is kinda gnarly but sounds great, however being homemade it has some quirks and one of them is the speaker connection: there is a cable with jack male connector wired directly to the speaker instead of traditional input jack. One of pros of that setup is, that I didn't have to worry about losing the speaker cable

) however it broke off the speaker yesterday just prior to our gig, rendering my setup cab less. There was luckily a in house Deluxe Reverb, but it wouldn't turn on !! In the end, I ended up usingbit as a cab for the Marshall and it sounded surprisingly great!! I liked the looks of that setup even more than it's sound tho

Wow, that rushed a memory back into my brain out of nowhere! I used to do almost exactly the same thing almost monthly as a teenager! Circa 1997-ish we played a venue called The Boat Race in Cambridge City about once a month and they had a late-70s SF Twin Reverb as part of the 'backline' that never, ever seemed to work so people just used it as a cab...of which I used to pop my JCM800 into.

Nothing quite like hustling a rig together in a pinch to teach you the lesson of flexibility.

All the Fender Blender buzz today had me pull out my fuzz board for a "no trippy gimmicks, let's see if you can still do some raw fuzz" playing. Oh, it was so good. First one's a Bazz Fuss, second one's a Companion Fuzz.

But that Fender Blender, boy oh boy. Turn on the boost, kick out the blocks, and crank up that roar.

What a great board. I love the Fender Blender. It is one of the first pedals with two switches.

A day later...

"Headphones rehearsal" today - living room setup. eDrums and amp sim pedals through an old Mackie mixer, but this rig alone got us pretty far into a trippy, fuzzed out space jam for about 30 minutes.

I love this guitar, coming up on its' 15th birthday soon, and it's never let me down.

I had one of the RI Blenders when they were new. Didn't really understand it so I sold it and still dearly miss it. I've been watching the market on them for a few years, hoping to catch one at a good price but the prices just slowly creep up and up.

I needed a stand for my new keyboard so bought the "Nord Stand Ex" which, after arriving and a lot of head-scratching, turns out doesn't fit the one particular model I bought

still, I managed to fit it with judicial use of brain power and 3M dual lock. This is my current "work station" on the rug...

My wife and I like watching those "rate or roast my rig"-type videos. And our highest positive criteria is "how condusive does that space look for making music, efficiently, without being clinical and sterile?" That looks like a pretty great music making space you have there.

And forgive me, folks, I've been hopping from board to board lately, trying to see what inspires me. I think I overshot on "textural/ambient" and ended up at a goddamn Jesus Board. But since I grew up Catholic, what's the penance for that? Learning how to play blackgaze?

Thank you. That's actually the only portion of that room that's conducive to a calm mind for creativity. The rest of the room is utter chaos. It's probably about 14'x8' and currently contains:

1x work desk for my wife for work from home days + chair
2x Ikea Kallax cube racks (1 on top of each other) for storage - mostly shoes and handbags, a few drawers for my clutter.
1x workbench/painting table for me to paint for work or work on guitars/amps/etc. This permanently has 987456029341203 things on it
1x under the bench full of spare amps, extension leads, a metal cabinet full of pedals and parts and other junk
1x the rug with amp/keyboard/etc as pictured
1x nook I keep 2x gigbags in
Plus all the walls are covered in artwork, and guitars/ukulele/mandolin/etc all hanging from them

The whole house is like that, truth be told. Like a carefully curated thrift store. At least, that's what I tell myself to excuse the hoarding

Excellent! Have fun with the kittens and the cube, in that order.

I'm kicking myself now that I didn't snap up that one that was only £100 a while back. A stereo amp set-up with dual choruses could be immense.
