Re: Fender Vintera II Leaked?
I find black guitars boring
I'm agnostic to big headstocks
I don't like blocks and binding on maple
I am currently revisiting all these prejudices looking at that Jag.
The tort is rubbish though!

Re: Fender Vintera II Leaked?
Ok got 5mins before i leave to rehearsal.
Overall, fantastic build quality, everything absolutely flawless. Apparently the frets (and binding) have all been overstrpayed with the tint/gloss... like a Rickenbacker. Oh well. No sharp or scratchy feeling though.
Neck is full, but not thick. Comfortable even for my small hands.
Tuners feel wonderful, smooth and Pro.
Sound is BEAU TI FUL, nice and sharp, with a great clank, if you know what i mean. Pickups look "bulged" on top, so something big/new must be under the covers. No squealy microphonics!
Hardware, especially the vibrato looks and feels solid like on AVRIs! Push in bar. Bridge is vintage accurate and needs to go (Staytrem or Mustang at least).
All in all great but bad bad set up with very high string height. Bummer to play it like that.
And the tort is ultra shit ugly.
Nice lava or creme, yes, and aged covers. Or even all black.
I seriously give it 8/10 as is.
But not for almost €1300
Make it 1000-1100, max.
Will wait for prices to drop or used one.

The specs state bound so unlikely for it to be painted on.
"7.25" Radius Bound Maple Fingerboard with Black Blocks and Vintage Tall Frets"
My pal has one of those Squier Precision basses with the maple board, black binding and blocks. The binding isn’t painted on, so I’d think these new Jags would be the same man.

I hadn't been checking out the full line, thinking, I'll likely get a Jazzmaster body and Mustang body only from Stratosphere down the road...then I see this...
https://www.fender.com/en-US/electric-g ... 62306.html
Love everything about the black '60s Tele Thinline with aged white pearloid pickguard.
I'll wait for one to pop up used or on sale down the road. Finally, a guitar to make use of my Fender CS Nocaster pickups...unless the stock pickup sound great.

That's a super weird thing for them to say. Even the cheap MIC eBay neck I got for $50 has real binding.eggwheat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 7:24 amI haven't a clue, Im not a guitar builderr?JamesSGBrown wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 5:33 amWhy the hell would they paint it on?
The maple neck'd TVL JM wasn't painted on and it's the same process...
But ok.. you know it was Andertons that told me it was painted on, when i was trying a TVL JM.. I tried a lot of guitars that day. I said the binding looks odd on the TVL, and complained that the frets hung over the binding to the edge of the neck to the point the edges caught my hand...which isn't vintage correct...he said oh its just painted on, on these........ or was it the limited Squier VI with black binding I tried? I will have to check again when I go in there.
Fret nibs are a Gibson thing. Fender binds the neck then installs the frets over the binding.

Regarding the '70s Jaguar and mods, do you think it'd be possible to add the Jaguar mute system? That would be super cool.

Re: Fender Vintera II Leaked?
You can add a Fender Mute to pretty much any vintage-style Jag. You just need to drill the two screw holes and spring/plunger hole (and either modify the existing pickguard or source a new one with the appropriate cutouts).offkeyericdee wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 12:38 pmRegarding the '70s Jaguar and mods, do you think it'd be possible to add the Jaguar mute system? Re: Fender Vintera II Leaked?
Yeh, its very possible I misheard...I was just reading they spray lacquer over the frets? Maybe that what he said to me. My vintage late 60's Fenders dont have the frets over the binding? The frets end before the binding and look like they go under it cos there a little lump in the binding. I definitely dont like the way the frets look on this Vintera II jaguar...looks like the TVL.GilmourD wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 9:32 amThat's a super weird thing for them to say. Re: Fender Vintera II Leaked?
Yeah that's why the frets look almost like brass, since they (and the binding) were oversprayed with amber tint lacquer. Oh well.
I was dying for a tux look Jag but somehow it doesn't do anything to me in person, so I'd now rather get a creme one instead.
But again, used or discounted, not at full price.
The sound and feel were tops, again, i have to mention.
But i suspect that Jag i tried needed a truss rod adjustment from the beginning... otherwise flawless.

Nice demo of the Jag. The pickups sound amazing in these! Definitely gonna get one but I can’t decide between the black or vintage white

Yeah it sounds really good. He's getting quite a lot of spank with a very light touch, those strings must be quite a light gauge.marginwalker wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 11:49 pmhttps://youtu.be/xLfSS6sRbcA?si=2A185XzDd3lnfYV7
