Re: NGD Vintera Mustang
I oiled the neck (on the right) and it brought it to life.

If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

Wait... Deja vu... That's the Gibbard setup and somebody on Facebook posted that the same thing happened to them. Fender sent them the trem unit and was like "Oops! Our bad!".

Re: NGD Vintera Mustang
I bought an unbranded trem for cheap enough...
I have to use their cigar (the cigar from the hardtail doesn't screw down far enough.
But I don't think the plate from the Fender hardtail will work either.
the loops that hold the spring on the back of the Fender (hardtail) trem are considerably smaller than the new trem.

Further, the springs are so tight that you can't get the posts to stand straight.

If I pull them straight and screw them into the cigar, will that be too much tension?
I wanted to use the Fender branded trem...but, if I have to use the off brand, it's ok.

That is some super gorgeous and very trippy grain! The oil really makes it pop and darkens it very nicely.jakeisjake wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 3:26 amI oiled the neck (on the right) and it brought it to life.

I just wanted to follow up... This was a new 'Stang? Did you contact Fender to tell them the wrong trem ended up on it?

Re: NGD Vintera Mustang
Yes, it was new but blemished from GC. THere's some damage to a tuning peg (cosmetic) and the neck is finished funny (cosmetic). Neither bothered me, so I figured I'd keep it. I really liked it, so when I discovered the trem issue, I wanted to resolve it with GC and keep this guitar. I probably should have returned it, the next one would probably have been great, too. But, oh well.
I think GC has done its part in making it right...so I never thought to contact Fender. I figured they would say "Talk to GC". But, maybe I will...you never know, they might send a trem or, at least, sell me one cheaper? I guess it's worth a shot.

Same thing happened to a guy in a Facebook offset group. Fender sent him the correct trem to be installed.jakeisjake wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 1:45 amYes, it was new but blemished from GC.
