Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing record. Kudos for an interesting pick from that year.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:26 amI really like that record and listen to it way more than anything else from that year.OffYourFace wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:59 pmI love how you picked a Yo Yo Ma record for 1983, the year many HUGE records came out.
He re-recorded the same material later and the playing is more mature and less showy, but there’s something about the cockiness of these performances that I like.

You didn’t commit to one album most years!
It would help if you included the artist name please.

Doing this was a ton of fun and offered me some real insights. First, certain years are absolutely PACKED with an insane amount of great music. The Y2K era was thick with great tunes. Second insight, I didn't trust my contemporaries to make good music in the 2000's 2010's and it shows. I pulled up a bunch of wikipedia lists of "blank year in music" and I see so many artists freshman or sophomore records who would go on to huge careers, and I was was just totally not interested. Most of the music I really love comes from well before I was even born.
Sadly a couple years, I have nothing at all.

I feel the same way. I'm still working on my list; there are some years with nothing, but a few years with ALL my favorite albums. Tough to pick favoritesseenoevil II wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 5:32 pmDoing this was a ton of fun and offered me some real insights.
