For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

Yeah the neck was really what did for me too, I like my Baritones neck but the SG's just felt right in my hand. I am having to get used to the nitro finish which feels a bit sticky but I've read that is fairly normal on a new Gibson and will settle more with age. I just can't get over the cherry finish though it's such a nice color.

So what tuners do you guys suggest when I decide to replace these? I like the look of the the Grover 135N tuners, but I'm not very knowledgeable on what makes a good set of tuning machines.

Nah.  Those are my favorite tuners ever.  I'd leave stock.

It's the SG Classic, I think only Guitar Center and Musicians Friend sell them now. I got it for $899 on sale, the regular price is $999. But over the Memorial Day weekend GC was giving out $75 gift cards if you spent over $500.00 so it came out pretty good. I also bought a case for it so they deducted the gig bag cost which was like $20.00 or something like that.

As for the tuners, maybe it's because they are such a bright white and kind of stick out  that I don't like the look of them but then maybe they'll grow on me hehe.

Nice looking guitar!

Red SG w/P90s

Red ES335 or ES345
I second that list Nolan!

- maybe with the colour on the SG changed to brown/mahogany and with a lyre vibrola (did someone say Jeff Tweedy?)  ;)
Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

Can anyone tell me what the stock string gauge is that comes with the SG Classic? I can't tell if they are 10's or 9's

Leaving it out of the case for a while will help expedite that process.

I'm not sure about the strings.. I think mine had 10s.
Bigger in sum than parts.

the 3 gibbys id love are a 54' custom LP with bigsby(would be fantastic in pelham blue/gold hardware but that will never happen), the lyre SG (but TV yellow!) and an es-295 complete with flower pickguard 8)

I'm starting to get pretty serious on doing a trade-in, but it's a pretty big decision for me...  :o

Well I got new strings on it finally hehe, it took me two packs of regular slinkys to actually put them on correctly. I'm used to the tuners on my Fender which have the slot that you just stick the string in and start winding. So I read up on how to attach the strings to these style tuners, only the first string I did backwards so it didn't hold the string tight and it unwound after i snipped off the extra string. Ah well live and learn. I figured out my mistake and now I'm a pro hehe.

I'm really excited I won a Diaz Texas Ranger treble booster pedal (based off of Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster) on ebay for a good price. So I can't wait to try it out with my new gee-tar.
