Being used on hit recordings should hardly be considered a metric for whether something is good or not though, right?
Hmm... That reasoning would make the Strat, Tele and Les Paul the worst guitars ever because they've been used most often on shitty records (because I'm sure they've been used most often on records in general).

True… I mean. The pedigree built by Eric Clapton and Roy Buchanan is completely annulled because I have those guitars as well, and a USB audio interface.

It is likely...in a way it could be worth dropping the new accurate reissue ones in there and getting the real WRHB sound.
Why? The fake WRHB's sound MUCH better than the crappy CuNiFe pickups that the 1970s correctly rejected leading Fender to discontinue them for decades. I can't even call them overrated. They are overpriced junk that have been used in literally .0001% of hit recordings over the past 50 years.
You know that the originals were actually discontinued because the other uses for CuNiFe magnets ceased to exist (for instance, speedometers changed how they work) thus making them an expensive niche product for the magnet manufacturers and an impracticality for Fender.

...too bad it's reissue WRHBs, probably the cheap mexican ones...? :(

Alternatively, you can say: "their sound isn't for me."

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad word about the CuNiFe wide range pickups. They sound to me like a telecaster on steroids. Even the new reissue ones (which I’ll agree are expensive) sound fantastic. The Mexican reissue ones just sound like any other cheap generic humbucker to me, and a few I’ve played have been microphonic.

Put me down as another CuNiFe fan. When the reissues first came out, I decided to take the plunge and bought a set for my Vintera Tele Deluxe. They woke that guitar up immediately. I can understand not liking them (actually, I can't, but I'm trying to be fair), but hating them? I don't get it.

I'm sure the reissues have their fans, specifically people who already prefer PAF-style humbuckers. I don't have any experience with the real deal CuNiFe ones but I'd sure love to try a real Jazzblaster!

Hope you'll get it then! TBH the thing that offends me most is that it was done on a vintage Fender. The cut is well done, the shape is fun and the color is killer.
