That body and finish look sooo good. I just love what Tru-oil does to wood, it really makes the figuring pop. What grit paper did you do the “slurry coats” with and how are you doing final sand/polish/buff?

Thanks! I used 600 grit "wet or dry" paper for the slurry coats. No final sand/buff. You could do that if you wanted maximum gloss, but I'm liking it right where it's at.

Soldered up the fuzz circuit today. Would have been really easy if I hadn't accidentally swapped two of the capacitors, which I then had to desolder and it got a little messy. I don't think I damaged anything though. Now I just have to work on getting it in the guitar.

If you sold those ready to install to a JM, I would buy it.

That's an interesting idea...it would require rewiring the slider switch and changing a roller pot to 500ka, I guess I could make that all one harness but then the output jack also needs to be changed to a stereo one. At that point I think it would make as much sense to do a fully prewired pickguard though ;)

There is a Uk company doing just that, but they do charge quite a lot for it https://www.homeoftone.co.uk/collection ... ght-handed

Got it wired in! This wiring scheme is definitely over the top, maybe I should have simplified it by leaving out the bass cut... Anyways, hope it works!!

Also the neck has shipped! :)

I saw this while waiting for your response haha! Certainly interesting, and not a bad price for a complete harness with it all built in.

The pickup covers that I ordered from Guitar Madness on Ebay don't fit in my pickguard, AND don't fit one of my pickups (the Woody++ has slightly wider pole pieces than normal). I just ordered a new set from Sunday Handwound; they'll fit their pickups and hopefully they'll fit in my guard!

The neck has landed! It's a little light on the birdseye on the front of the headstock, but the back of the shaft is very lovely and I'm very happy with it. Now comes a labor intensive but very important section of the build: the fret dressing and polishing, and then burnishing/polishing the shaft. :) :) :)

I'm still waiting on the tuners to arrive, as well as the new pickup covers

Okey dokey frets dressed, shaft polished, tuners installed! I also tested out the wiring (by taping on the pickup pole pieces) and everything seems to work, other than I had wired the fuzz volume knob backwards.

Fixed that, and now I'm unfortunately waiting on pickup covers of all things ???

Pickup covers?? We don't need no stinkin' pickup covers!!!

I got everything full put together using tape to hold the pickups in place. The neck pickup sounds excellent! The bridge pickup isn't close enough to the strings. I think I'm going to be very happy with the tone of this guitar once I get pickup covers and can adjust the pickup height lol.

The fuzz circuit is not working correctly; makes a loud squeal. My guess is that its making contact with the shielding paint or another wire, as it seemed to work earlier.

Anyway, here she is! I'll take some glamour shots once I get those stinkin' pickup covers!

Hey thanks! As I've played around with it some more I realized that the fuzz is actually working just fine and it's super gnarly! The sound of the circuit is kind of like kind of like a silicon Fuzz Face but a little nastier/"garage-ier". The bass cut is actually what's not working properly and it was affecting the fuzz, but in the right position it doesn't seem to affect the signal. Still need to figure that out, but that should be easier than figuring out the fuzz would have been. :)
