New Jazzmaster build

Post by Wombat » Tue May 06, 2025 7:45 am

Hi Guys
Thank you for accepting me into your group
I am a long time tinkerer and have built a couple of guitars and a couple of amps and pedals, along with modifying all of the above.
I am building my first foray into offset guitars I have a very nice thinline body built for me by Ceccarini guitars in Italy which I intend to dye a tobacco sunburst onto
I have a Trent Tremolo and a descendant bridge on order.
I have 2 nice strat necks of which I will use one
What I need advice on is Pickups I am thinking noiseless and was going to pull the trigger on some Kinman Surfmaster DV's, but they are really quite expensive and I have come across Curtis Novaks, Fralins and Duncan silencers all considerably cheaper than the Kinmans
I am looking for a surf sound I have read on the post Noiseless Jazzmaster Pickups: Options, Opinions Favorites a few people say just get the Kinmans but some of these posts go back a while, so what is the general consensus in 2025? are Kinmans still king of the hill or have these other pups caught up
Tim

I haven't tried Kinmans but Novaks are incredibly well regarded around here. I have a set of the JM-PAFs and like them very much but they're also very much PAFs in a JM pickup housing and not traditional JM pickups.
