Quick Knob Question
I want to put some Tele knobs on my 1959 Jazzmaster along with some period correct kluson tuners. (replacing the replacements done by the previous owner)
Ok. I know a 59 doesn't have tele knobs, but some of the old prototype jazzmasters had.
Did they have the 50's round top knobs or the 60's flat top knobs?

Re: Quick Knob Question
Seeing as the JM prototypes would have been made in the mid to late 50's, I'm gonna go ahead and guess 50's knobs.

Re: Quick Knob Question
That would obviously make sence
But i am not sure when the actual change from round top to flat top actually happened? Guess 50's and 60's is just a generalization.
Hard to tell from the picture. It could be both.

Re: Quick Knob Question
Okay, did a bit of research and looks like my comment is incorrect. For teles, it seems they switched from round-top to flat-top in 1956.

Re: Quick Knob Question
Cool thank you.
It doesn't really matter as i am not planning to replicate the prototype.
But as a freak you gotta stick to the ol' fender traditions when possible

But please tell me you just took pictures, it wasn't your own collection?

Og yes. I read that he passed away a few years ago.
I wonder what became of all those JM's. Must have been put on auctions.
