Need advice: decent recording at home - replacement for Peavey Classic 30

Hello!
I'm a long-time lurker, but I never made a proper introduction. I'm sorry!
That's probably 'coz I haven't got the offset (yet hopefully)! My guitar is old Japanese SG wannabe.
Anyway, my name is Slava, I'm 24 years old music addict from Moscow, Russia (can you believe it?)
And I need your advice!

I have a Peavey Classic 30, but I'm not going to play in a band anytime soon (
Still, I'm eager to record some of my musical ideas at home!
Sadly, I'm not happy with software emulators, blame Peavey! So, what device can I get insted of Classic 30? I think I can sell it for ~$500.
Maybe some tube pre-amp (like ADA MP1) and some cheap 1x12? will I need something else then?
Orange Tinny Terror would be cool, but it's very expensive over here (around $880 + cab!).

I don't need some huge loud beast... but I want a decent sound. Preferably not so 'warm' as Peavey Classic. Damn, am I wanting too much?
Or maybe someone can provide awesome recordings made with Peavey Classic 30 at bedroom volumes and I'll change my mind?

hello,

maybe your amp is fine and you need a good distortion pedal or graphic eq, or maybe you need to change the tubes in your amp if it sounds funny.

You can make very good recordings with that amplifier.  What you need is a decent microphone for recording guitar amplifiers, a little experimentation with mic placement, and you're in luck-- most of the 'first pick' choices for recording guitar amps are relatively inexpensive mics!

Many people like the very inexpensive Shure SM57 for recording guitar amps,  also the Sennheiser MD421.  I often have good results with a Beyerdynamic M160.  Arguably,  the sound you're getting out of the amp and where you stick the mic are more than half the battle.  Good luck.

You're in Russia, so just get an Oktava 219 and rock out with the Peavey!
