having a jaguar body painted and possibly cut
so .. as a result of my absolute inability to find a seafoam/surf green or daphne/sonic blue jaguar, i am considering just buying an AVRI and getting a body made and/or painted. i was wondering if anyone on this forum does either of those things. also, if i were to buy a jaguar body from say warmoth, would it fit an AVRI neck/hardware perfectly? i don't know anything about this 'routing' business and frankly gentlemen you frighten me when you speak of such things. i'm also interested in any other online retailers or people you might know who have such a jaguar body. i'd like to buy the AVRI and have a friend just swap everything out i guess, and then sell the body.
thanks!
thanks!

If I were you, I think I'd buy the AVRI, then send it to a luthier to refinish it....
I'm pretty sure though that if you patiently look on ebay, you will find a Seafoam Jazzmaster....they are definitely out there and they look great out of the box

good luck!

USA custom guitars makes a Jaguar body and will finish in surf green or seafoam green.
http://www.usacustomguitars.com/shagwire.html
AFAIK they can make it to fit the original hardware.

well advised love, but my poor wee fingers yearn for a shorter scale.zhivago wrote: If I were you, I think I'd buy the AVRI, then send it to a luthier to refinish it....

Hi Katie,
Sounds cool. Check out Guitar Mill http://guitarmill.com/cart/index.php?ma ... d=197 I like their Jaguar body accuracy. You could get a 2-piece alder body for $160, or a 1-piece for $190 and have them paint it. They use nitrocellulose paint which is what was used in the 50s and 60s by fender. I guarantee you will be happy and have a killer sounding guitar. You could even keep an eye on ebay for a killer vintage jaguar neck...and like you said, sell the AVRI body and break even. You will have a better guitar. The AVRI bodies have a thick poly sealer on the wood that IMO encapsulates the tone. The Guitar Mill body will be all nitro and allow the wood to resonate more and the guitar to breathe.
The guitar mill paint prices are very reasonable and Mario, the owner is an awesome guy and will hand pick out the best wood for you.

That's one opinion. Another opinion is that on a solid body guitar the finish makes little or no difference at all.painted wood wrote: The AVRI bodies have a thick poly sealer on the wood that IMO encapsulates the tone. I've been eyeing that thin skin in sea foam for like 2 years!
