Bass wiring question

What would happen if I just connect two bass pickups straight to the output jack? With no pots or anything like that in between, would it work?

it will probably be a little brighter and punchier sounding than the same pickups through a volume and tone knob on 10.  It would probably be best to start by wiring them in phase parallel if you want to use a pickup switch, and if not, in phase and in series. 
What if fat bottomed girls really do make the rockin' world go round?
