I'd recommend a using heat gun and scraping the paint off.  I used that technique on my Toronado.  Depending on the type of finish, you may be able to use some sort of chemical stripper, but if its super thick poly, you might have a hard time doing that.

There are lots of tips through out the forum, just do a little searching and I'm sure you will find lots of tips.

Oh, my gosh......I love that finish. My daughter would go nuts if she saw it. We searched for a "project" Mustang bass for so long. Had we found one, she wanted me to redfinish it in metallic, or sparkle green. She doesn't like Sherwood Green, so I had been looking at other options. Anyway, we ended up finding a 1977 sunburst beauty, much to good to refin, but we counldn't resist it. So we kind of let the prooject fade away for now, but if she saw yours she will be gassing for one like it!

Do you have anymore pictures of it? Could you give me some details about the finish, such as what is the color, what type of paint (lacquer, poly. etc.)? Also, is it metallic paint, or glitter in the clear, or........

Sorry, but I would love to know some details and let her see it.....before you strip the finish!  :(

I remember that one.  How about putting it up to trade for an unpainted Mustang body (or one in the color you want) before stripping it?
