Onboard Effects?

Who here has built in effects in their guitars? I just got some really nice pieces of ash last night from a guy in my woodworking club, and am planning to start another JM build, but this time, I would like to use the rhythm circuit cavity to put in some type of effect(s). I am thinking maybe a fuzz of some kind and/or some sort of feedbacker that I can play with using the roller knobs somehow.

Any thoughts? I have never built any effects, so this would be a first for me.

I would be especially curious to hear what other people have done and see some pictures.

there are plenty of modifications on youtube. even a modded squier cyclone with a kaoss pad and fuzz factory.

I was thinking about that very thing last night and when I went to search it, your post popped up.

That's a couple times in the past couple days...
Too funny...

I wondered about doing the same thing to the rhythm circuit on my next project - I have no idea how to execute...
I'll be watching this one closely.

Glad to know I am not the only person who thought this might be a good idea. I am especially interested in some kind of feedbacker/noisemaker type thing. I want to be able to make sounds like in the middle of this song, but do it with knobs and stuff on board. I managed these sounds wth some accidental combination of my Dano Leslie pedal, Dano delay, and Crybaby wah. It was totally unrehearsed and came out like a wall of sound that startled and excited my bandmates. (Sorry in advance for the fact that the guitar is way high in the mix - there were two hanging speakers in our practice space and one was apparently too close to my amp - just turn the sound to the left speaker a bit).

Anyway, I want to be able to do something like that without trying to figure out the combination of pedals. If I can drive the feedback a bit with the wah, all the better.

i've got an impedance buffer/booster pedal in my red guitar.i thought about putting more wacky effects in my guitar like you guys are talking about, but then i realized that i didn't want to risk routing big holes in one of my guitars just so i can stick in pedals that i'd never be able to use with another guitar. and to be honest, i like kneeling down to my pedalboard and dialing the fuckout of it for noise and general craziness.

AGREED! Routing will rule it out for me - but if there are any mods that will work within the existing cavities, I'm IN!

I, too, have been entertaining the idea of an onboard fuzz of some kind, lately! I play through a VOX Valvetronix and I love it to death, but about the only feature it doesn't have is a fuzz. Its hard to find anything online about what I need for an onboard fuzz and how to put it together. I didn't think of youtube...

aen put a built in fuzz in his duo sonic.
i got a fuzz distortion out of an old dano hodad or something like that.
the use of the rythm section is a good idea for a fuzz/ effect area.

That could be possible, because the chips and stuff are really small in the vintage distortion, aren't they?

There's been a thread on the Jaguar Bottom Master lately and I found out they have a built-in fuzz. Does anyone know any details on that?

I can't remember where I saw a pic, but I'm pretty sure it looked like all the electronics would fit in the rythm circuit cavity of JM.
