Yeah. Sometimes an eBay seller will try to convince you MIJ is better, but that's just to sell their MIJ guitars.

Very nice
There is a real nice one at a store near me i was thinking of getting,i did want AV but this is just so nice. All it would mean is changing the pickups and electronics for AV and Antiquitys so im still considering it....but I'll try find the same with binding first.

I still don't understand why Fender don't re issue the dots and bindings fully (available to everyone) because they look bloody gorgeous and theres loads of people out there who want D+B because Kurt Cobain had it.

Cause nobody plays Jazzmasters and Jags enough to warrant that many variations.

I agree...let's face it, people I hear on the internet constantly go on about how they'd buy something if it was available...but never do...the offset crowd is also guilty of this.FireAarro wrote: Cause nobody plays Jazzmasters and Jags enough to warrant that many variations.
I remember people going:
"I'd totally buy a JM or Jag if there was an accurate US reissue"
there is one now, and they're not selling all that well.
then some people said:
"I wanna buy a Japanese made one, but I hate the boring colours...CAR, sunburst and white..and I like matching headstocks"
so Fender Japan releases Burgundy Mist, Daphne Blue, Surf Green etc etc...these guitars hardly sold either and ended up gathering dust in shops
and then people wanted blocks & binding
so Fender Japan releases blocks & binding in CAR, white and sunburst....but now peple want other custom colours!
I guess some people will never be happy!

I reckon Fender Japan will make JMs like the one in this thread (dots & binding) in all sorts of custom colours, and then people will go "I want a sunburst one"

True, but I truly would buy one as I now have the money whereas I previously didn't. I suppose they're not gonna make a whole new line of guitars for a thousand people

If they still made them I actually would totally hit it.zhivago wrote:"I wanna buy a Japanese made one, but I hate the boring colours...CAR, sunburst and white..and I like matching headstocks"FireAarro wrote: Cause nobody plays Jazzmasters and Jags enough to warrant that many variations.

It sucks, because in like the past 2 months 3 of my friends have bought offsets from Ishibashi. At least one of them wanted surf green for real, he ended up getting a white jaguar, same colour as mine D:

Re: MIJ Teal Green Jazzmaster with Bound Neck - Reissue.
My 2 cents.
For either Fender Japan or Fender USA, They should make a base model available in a few colors with no binding. BUT make custom colors, sparkle finishes, binding, block inlays, etc. available!! Thes Options would cost more but then the buyer has some say on what the final product will look like. That way the dealers would not get stuck with a bunch of custom colors ones that nobody wants. They need to regress and do business like they did in the 1960's. Heck, back then you could pay to have your own name inlaid on the fretboard. Give the Buyers some Freedom!!

Aside from Buck Owens in the catalogue, I have never seen an inlaid fingerboard Fender guitar.
At $10.00 a letter, it was a deal.

Well that's what the custom shop does. I wish they could do what you say and keep the price at production run levels, but that would hardly make sense for them.FenderBob wrote: My 2 cents.

I inquired once about ordering a jazzmaster with a painted headstock, I was told I would have to start at the custom shop base price of $2200. Just for a painted headstock, and that was a few years ago.
