jcyphe, where are you from, dude? Calling someone racist is pretty serious, and you seem to take it pretty lightly.  Do you even know any mexican pimps?  Are YOU a mexican pimp?  If you are a mexican pimp, and are offended, Im sure I speak for everyone here when I offer my most sincere apology.  Otherwise, quit with the oversensitivity, its not racist in the slightest.  It is a humorous generalization, as Im sure not ALL mexican pimps would like something in that style, but, having literally known a few, and even more mexican drug dealers, that is very much the style they would've gone for. The term "mexican" here is used to denote being from mexico, as opposed to hispanic, which does not denote whether or not one is from mexico, or latino, which specifically denotes.

"If you want to say the finish is garrish and something you'd find on a Lowrider go right ahead but Lowriders don't represent all Mexicans.

And if you're talking about Fender finishes why not talk about all those great Fender guitars numerous Mexican employees at Fender have been making for 50 years, instead you are just re-inforcing negative Stereotypes about Mexican pimps and Vatos in Low Riders, If I don't find the humor in that, SORRY."

Uh, are there any positive stereotypes about mexican pimps?  Should mexican pimps, or any pimps, not be stereotyped?  And who mentioned lowriders representing all mexicans?  oh, right, it was ONLY YOU!  If, in your mind, the phrase "mexican pimp" equals "All Mexicans", then you are the racist.  So just quit whining, and give some thought to things before youre offended, ok?

Thanks for making me ruin the joke by explaining it to death >:(

Just a word to the wise -

This thread was dangerously close to disappearing with those participating in the feud receiving a warning (or stronger). Notice I say "those" and not one or the other, the reason being that neither "side" has the higher ground here. A few things to bear in mind on this forum (and in any public venue) are that:

- comments regarding those of a particular nationality, while perhaps not being outright rascist, are stereotypical and are subject to persons taking offense. It's best not to post comments like these publicly, regardless of the true intentions of the poster. What's funny to one may be hurtful to others.

- Bad feelings that have developed elsewhere between two or more parties have no business here. The average offsetter does not want to log in and be subject to someone elses' dirty laundry. While it may be slightly entertaining to some, it is certainly annoying to others who wish to discuss offsets and related matter.

These are rules that are common to any public forum, they're simply a matter of courtesy. While we are relatively lenient here and do have a sense of humor... there is no room for attacking or offending each other. That's what makes this forum a good place... being tolerant and laid back, yet having order. We've all experienced an oppressive and overly-moderated forum elsewhere... let's not make it necessary to revert to that here. In other words, consider your remarks before posting, and police yourself.

Behavior such as this will not be tolerated here. Have fun and enjoy the forum.

:)

I still think this guitar would look great with a different pickguard!
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

It's hard to tell for sure from the pic, but I'm inclined to agree!

You "dunno"?

Oh, c'mon!  That finish is something I'd expect to see on a 67 Impala in Compton.  And that pickguard?  That's something a balding engineer from Buffalo, NY would like.

BOO!!!!
I do like it. (jerk  :))

Wasn't there a paint shop nearby the Fender facotry (that specialized in sparkle finished for amusment ride carriages) that Fender would send stuff down to on occasion?

I'm glad you caught that!  :D  Oh, I'm sure Fender was responsible for putting out a few Cheech and Chong guitars (now, c'mon...*that* has got to be ok to say) and my guess is, they simply ran down to a local paint supplier in either Fullerton, Corona, wherever and purchased it.  I'd actually like to see the back of the headstock, cause now I'm kinda wonderin' if it's a Fender Custom Shop geetar...

yeah it's a terrible pickguard. Were all antigua pickguards see-through like that? I've only ever seen them on antigua-finished guitars, which are kinda white anyway.

antigua was such a horrible finish...

I'm the contrarian today- I love this guitar (and hate the JC-120)!  It's totally over-the-top, like a Paisley Tele.  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I don't mind over the top, but it has to be done well. I like the copper, but not the guard. As with many of these things, it would be better on a Tele or something that you wouldn't feel robbed looking at. Some things weren't meant for sparkles. Frank Zappa might be able to wear a fedora with long hair, but it doesn't work for everyone. Would you want a pink Ford Granada? Not my first choice. Are bowties ever a good idea?

Thanks to Fullerplast for his explanation. My posts had nothing to do with resentment towards anybody, i didn't like all comments referring to  Ethnicities and I do find that offensive. Aug just happened to get that ball rolling and some others ran with it. I don't feel I am over sensitive and sensitivity is a subjective Matter anyways, just because nobody else took offense doesn't really change my mind. I will always speak out when I feel a bad trend going on, Fullerplast has made it clear that kind of stuff isn't necessary and that's all i was saying originally. Notice I didn't get into any personal attacks in my original posts, i just said when discussing a finish was it really neccessary to start using Ethnic stereotypes and examples and that is all. Any lingering hostility and personal attacks in this thread were introduced by other parties.

Lets all just say "no offence" at the end of our posts when it's possible that there might be some offence taken in our posts. hmm?

Ok that's enough.  I think everyone has had their opportunity to say their part.  Anymore comments in this post not relating to the topic at hand (a gold sparkle Jag for those not paying attention) are going to be deleted.
