That's a nice looking guitar...one of the nicer relic jobs I've seen.
I wonder why they wouldn't finish the headstock in matching LPB....kind of makes it look like a refin without it.

ageed, I have never seen an original vintage lpb jazz w/o painted head.

looks really good. but i´d like to see a mint guard on it, since it has all the features of a pre 65 jazzmaster.

pre-'62 all custom colours had non-matching headstocks...it really isn't a really rare look.

Which is weird considering how corroded the bridge and trem unit are.
Hmm...acid sweat?

That's true, Zhivago...good point.
I guess I just like the LPB better with a matching headstock!

nothing wrong with that...LPB with a matching headstock is a classic look!

There is a pic floating around on the web, I believe at webrocker's site called jag and jazz.
Also, I think there was a recent thread here that has a pic of the same '58...do a search pehaps. Sorry, I can't remember off the top of my head which thread it was in.

Sometimes it seems like the relic the wrong parts, or at least go a little overboard. All of my trem plates are still shiny and the worst wear is some cracking in the chrome plating. Other than that, this one does look pretty neat. I too would have rather seen one with a matching headstock

Oh well, maybe next time
Justin
Now count every rhododendron in this cool mountain light, I made more mistakes than that just tonight

I agree entirely. With a lot of the relics and nash guitars, it's like they just dumped all the metal parts into a bottle of coke and left it there for a few weeks so that they get all nice and rusty. And then the rest of the guitar is either imaculate in other areas and then with the usual arm wear and neck wear. Kind of silly, but I don't mind the lightly reliced guitars because they don't go down in valuer after you break them in like the brand new looking ones due and I don't feel as bad when I go Sonic Youth on them.
