Zhivago's Vintage Hotties - 1957 TV Yellow Les Paul Special
I always thought of LP Specials as the Telecaster in the Gibson line...spartan, contour-less, lean and mean...a simple wraparound bridge, dots and two raw P90s
just apply fingers...
such a nice design.

I've got one of these in the works and the Custom is just going to have to wait... maybe forever. I can't swing a vintage Special, but a CS reissue is about certain in the next week or so.

Will do.
I agree with your impression of them 100%. The utilitarian, no-frills, design adds up to sexy elegance in my book. I guess the bound board is a bit frilly, but only a bit.

indeed...I think the bound board plus the extra pup is that step up as a selling point over the Jr.luau wrote: Will do.

I think you've heard me mention the Historic LP Jr I played before buying my R6 .. that was a great little guitar. Absolutely stripped back to the bare essentials; thick neck, one pickup, no bullshit.

they are great guiatrs...actually Neil Young played one when I saw him for a song or two, and by god, it sounded a lot like Ol' Black!mezcalhead wrote: I think you've heard me mention the Historic LP Jr I played before buying my R6 .. that was a great little guitar. Probably my favorite of Gibsons. Very telecastery which is why I've always liked them, and P-90s are always lovely. Right now it's a toss up between one of the 90s RIs of those or a Faded SG Special or something. Tough call

Great guitars.
Custom77 (a french guitar company) makes these awsome Les Paul Jrs and SG jrs. And the price is very low.

BONAR! Those have pretty much become my favorite Gibby....I like the double cutaway ones better, though.
