Anyone else use baritones?
I have a '97 Jerry Jones baritone that I adore. I use it quite a bit. I like to make loops with my DL-4 and then layer baritone and detuned Jazzmaster lines together (I tune my Jazzmasters down to C# because I like the way open chords ring that way). The only bad thing is that it doesn't leave much room for bass lines, but I play at home most of the time these days anyway, so that isn't much of a problem. Delay and fuzz sounds great with it.

Yeah I have a Fender SUBSONIC (long neck strat) from 2000 (no longer available). Beautiful guitar, almost an autumn sunburst, it is tuned B - B.
It has mainly been used for "cello like" fills or alternate voicing to give a thicker texture in a rhythm track.... mainly on slower numbers.

Re: Anyone else use baritones?
as soon as i get enough money, i´m buying a danelectro longhorn baritone. i played a gig last weekend with my bandmate´s jaguar baritone, and got hooked. i love the way it "kerrangs" when you play open chords. even with 100% clean sound it sounds like... war. in a good way that is.
it´s a wonder i´ve kept from buying one this long. i´ve always played the bass as if it was a guitar, most of the time not even touching the low e-string for entire songs. a baritone would be an excellent way to broaden the spectrum.

I love the way chords ring, too. That is why I always tune my JMs down a decent bit too. It is such an awesome sound, especially with a lot of reverb. There are so many good uses for them that I can't believe that I waited so long to get one too.

If I didn't have this Jerry Jones, I would REALLY have a hard time not building my own VI.

Once my 63 VI gets reassembled, I intend using that much more (more as a bass).

Re: Anyone else use baritones?
Had a USACG bass VI neck on a Coronado for a while, then on my Jazzmaster for a while (Fender Bass VI string set).
Currently planning on putting a bari neck on my "Staronado" project. I'd like to find a 27" conversion neck (same scale as the Jag bari), but have not had any luck.

Re: Anyone else use baritones?
I found one of these at a local guitar shop recently. It was a Custom Shop NAMM edition in CAR with only one bridge humbucker. I didn't play it because I didn't want to get hooked, but it looked like a steal at only $999.sookwinder wrote: Yeah I have a Fender SUBSONIC (long neck $trat) from 2000 (no longer available). Re: Anyone else use baritones?
The Subsonic I have has a HB in the bridge and SC in the middle and Neck positions.... infact it basically looks like a hard tail strat with a HB in the bridge posi, that has a long neck on it.
But as I said before, the fit and finish on this guitar is truly amazing ... lovely guiatr to play and record with.

I was planning on getting a baritone Jag, fixing it up for singles, and adding the rythme citcut and all.

Re: Anyone else use baritones?
but the standard baritone jaguar already has single coils and rhythm circuit, why not just get one of those?JustAnotherNancyBoy wrote: I was planning on getting a baritone Jag, fixing it up for singles, and adding the rythme citcut and all.
i´m assuming you wanted to take one of these:
and swap the pickups and add a rhythm circuit..?

Those two beasts are different scales, right? (not that is has anything to do with top)
