. . . if you do not like humbuckers, then what do you think of the HH Tele's that Fender is making these days !

Personally i am not to fond of 'em, because i'll just use my LP for the Bucker tones then - no need for a Tele to try and be an allmighty Les Paul  :-*

If you want that humbucker sound, buy a Gibson. If you want Filtertron, go with Gretsch.  That's my opinion.  I like P90's and Humbuckers, just not on my Fenders.

I probably will own a Les Paul someday, just because only a LP sounds like an LP, but it would never be my main axe.
I looked at the Flame and Quilt Teles, (HH) but didn't like them.  The 72 Deluxe Teles sound okay, but I like the bite of a single coil.

To each their own!!! :D

But, the almighty (non offset) guitar is, and always will be the TELE!!!!!!! The plank is perfect.

It really depends what you want, the stock jaguar is better for surfier tones whereas the tele has a rock/indie/country following. Or you could buy a Jag (because you think it's comfier) and replace the one of the pickups. The Jag is mellower in places, but not without it's share of treble. The tele is generally better for distorting in my opinion though

I'll have to put my 2 cents in (although im probablyup to like 8 cents in this thread) for the 50s tele.

I just got one on tuesday and im looooooving it.  The big neck might throw you off though.
I prefer their older stuff.

Has anyone ever tried to retro-fit Tele pu's in the Jaguar ?

. . . can it be done ?

Ahhhh, yes, the Malden line of guitars  8)

That was my first option last year, but they have a 25.5" scale neck, longer than both the Tele and Jaguar if i remember correctly !

Still, for the price - super value i think !

Same scale as the telecaster/strat/Jazzmaster.
I prefer their older stuff.

I would get a Jaguar simply because you can always get a telecaster, but may not always get a Jaguar.
The Jaguar has a "chimy" chord, wherby you get alot of highs riding on the bass part of the chord and when played thru a rotovibe chorus pedal gives an "angry" kind of sound.

It is so different from any other guitar you can get, it is worth the extra money to pick one up when you can.

There are many many guitars that sound like Les Pauls, strats, telecasters, copies etc, and although these guitars have great sounds of their own, there are no other guitars that sound or look like a Jag or a JM for that matter.

It is the uniqueness of the thing that makes it exotic, IMHO.

+1 very good point indeed!

YUP . . . looks like (on B& W any ways) it will be a Jaguar first, and maybe later a Tele of some sort !

Still, i need to test some before i will know for sure !
