Have they let you run it through its paces? Might they sell it to you for at least a slight discount?

I have a tweed Champ in similar condition, although mine's a 1960 (and in the shop right now for a general checkup). They only really do one sound although it's a damn fine sound .. raucous, aggressive and really loud for such a little thing. They're the Tasmanian Devil of amps.

I'm thousands of miles away, smelling the Jimmy. It's probably my own. :-[

There's no way I'd get it for less than $700.  :(

Alright, $700.02
Tell them it's highway robbery... in the confusion they might just fall for it.  ;)

I just picked up one similar.  this little thing looks abused but sounds wonderful.  the shipper sent it in a box that wasn't much bigger than it and the tubes weren't secured so they came out and went through the original speaker cone (which i was pissed off at first but then noticed there was lots of voice coil rub so it would have had to be reconed anyway) so i replaced it with a weber for now and it sounds super.  also replaced all the electrolitics.
