You've got a few other toys to keep you company until you get it - I'm sure you'll be ok.  ;)

I see the sound city heads on eBay lot in the UK. Was thinking of getting one when I move to London.

Jonas,

It's next week now. When do you get it?

as soon as i find the time to go pick it up, and a ride (i don't have a car, or a driver's license for that matter). which sadly means i'll probably have to wait until friday afternoon. i'm trying not to think about it too much, i'm going crazy with anticipation here ;)

Jonas,

Great - I know you're dying to get a hold of that amp.

Would be cool to hear sounds clips. Is the mod he did pretty common and easy for a Sound City?

i know a lot of guys from plexipalace.com have put hiwatt preamps in their SC 120s, so i guess it's not uncommon. i don't know if you could call it easy though, it's not so much a mod as a rebuild. you have to take away the entire preamp and rebuild it. the existing one is nothing like a hiwatt. but most if not all amp techs should be able to perfom the conversion at a reasonable cost. i payed 2500 SEK = $365, and that included some general maintenance that was well overdue (new pots and caps etc.)
the total cost of the amp and the conversion was about $800 which is less than half of what a 70s hiwatts usually go for here in sweden.

i'll try to get some clips, but it could take a few weeks...
