yeah that's the one, although it now has a better looking finish (no orange peel, no ugly grey undercoat), different pickups and a pickguard shield. oh, and a customized mustang bridge with TOM posts instead of the TOM.
sounds great!
we need pics!!!!

Great job!
That's definitely one of the better looking guards I have seen, and the whole thing is just fantastic.
hey thanks!
I have our very own Fullerplast to thank for the guard (and the rest of the guitar too!)

yeah those cases look great.. I had one with my Tele Custom ri and plan to buy another one for my Framus and use it for either guitar if I only take one out as my JM's original case is a bit beat. I love that bright orange/gold interior and yeah jonas needs to post an updated pic!

damn Zhi! I am always jealous of your guitars!

It's not about the gear! It's about you, your hands, your imagination, your feelings.

zhivago That Jazzmaster is the cream of the crop. OF all the guitars on this site that one gets my vote.
I'm gonna try to replicate your pickguard on my guitar by pouring ketchup and mustard on it, swirling it around, and then let it dry in the sun.

A lot of yellow in that guard...I love it!

WOW!
I missed this earlier... just now found it. It looks fantastic!
I assembled and later sold a '62 that looked just like it....

thanks guys!
I can't stop looking at it myself!
my playing will probably go down the pan....I'll spend more time looking it, rather than playing it!

Actually, that black one that I sold you
was a '61

... at least the body was. It had the thimble ground scheme without the hole to the trem. I originally bought it from Jim. It had the remnants of some really funky purple sparkle finish on it then

But, that grounding made it up to mid '62 or so didn't it? So it still would have been correct. That was the first black Jazzmaster that I ever had.

Yeah... that's right. I bought the body from you off eBay and assembled it with '62 parts.
I also had a black '63 that had once been a 9-string. I replaced the neck (it had three plugged holes in the headstock) and sold it to Gill.
This was all before we really knew each other.
And parts were ALOT cheaper back then!
Here's the '63:

I think most of us in this thread can agree that Black with the Red Tort Guard is the best combo on an offset. That's why I am looking for a brighter red Tort guard for my Black Jazzmaster.
It would be cool to have a whole family of offsets with this combo (Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang, XII, and Bass VI) What a handsome family that would be. Believe me I've thought about doing it...but I do love some of the other colors too.
