Looks great Zhivago, that's the body you did yourself right?
That pickguard is amazing. I've never seen one like it. I love the look of black with t/s, especially if it's a matching headstock.
The guy from Brand New has one. Looks great.

You are right on about parts being cheaper then. I bought several complete, working bridges for about $60 and that was kinda high at the time even. I wish they were still that cheap now.

Looks amazing. I love the dull finish on this one. One of the best looking black jazzmasters I have ever seen.

Yeah... it does look really great!
Sorry for dropping my two old ones in your thread... but there's just something about black/tortoise! On Jags too!
(I've had some of those as well, but don't worry... I won't clog up your thread with them!)

Zhivago. Is the case a new Fender case, like the ones you can get through Bizrate or Thomann? If so are they any good? How heavy are they? More importantly how tough are they? Have you found any retailers in London?
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Re: Black.....like my soul!
hey there...it's an AVRI case....it's pretty tough...not too heavy, manageable to walk around with...I hear some people have checked them in when flying and they held up.
never tried it myself though.
the one in the pic is actually for sale.
PM me if interested....

so yannis, now that we've established that it looks great (and it truly does
)... how does the alder body sound compared to the ash?

I dunno yet....I'm going to plug it in and gig it over this week and the next...I'll post a report.mynameisjonas wrote: so yannis, now that we've established that it looks great (and it truly does)... how does the alder body sound compared to the ash?
initial thoughts are, as expected that it sounds more "dense"...this body's actually lighter than the ash one as well....
I'll post a full report after some real-life testing in the coming weeks
