The new Fender Champion 600...

...is a cool little amp!  It sounds a bit like my '79 Champ, but it breaks up a bit (maybe even a lot) earlier.  Dialing back the volume knob cleans it up nicely, too.  I don't think it's loud enough for any kind of rehearsals, but it'd be a great at-home jammin' or recording amp.  Tossing a Weber in it, maybe trying to squeeze an 8 incher in there, would probably be a great upgrade.  Overall I'd say it's a pretty good deal for 200 bucks, especially with original Champs creeping upwards.

How loud does it compare to an old SF Champ?

I don't have them side-by-side (maybe I'll bring my Champ to work tomorrow) but I'd say the 600 was not quite as loud as my '79 Silverface.  I'm interested to do an A/B comparison.

The Champion 600 is 5 watts. SF Champs are 6 but through a larger speaker.

Pretty simply control panel on the 600 - it makes Champs look complicated!

Damn...my amps only go to 10, some go to 11, but this one goes to 12 !
