Question about Jaguar HH
Question about Jaguar HH
Can you get the same kind of behind the bridge-harmonics with TOM bridge and stopbar? The bridge and stopbar look further than on a Les Paul and other guitars with the same system. I want one, but I really like playing behind the bridge on my Jazzmaster and want to do it on the Jaguar HH as well.

Yeah you can, but don't expect any exacting tones from playing behind the bridge, more of a shrill piercing sound.

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
yeah, since the length of the strings behind the bridge are shorter than on a regular jag or jazzmaster, the "notes" will be higher in pitch and will have much shorter sustain.handen wrote: Yeah you can, but don't expect any exacting tones from playing behind the bridge, more of a shrill piercing sound.

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
Rather than buying a Jag HH and routing it for a JM trem block .. wouldn't it be easier to get a CIJ Jag and drop in humbuckers and a T-O-M?

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
There is a Jaguar model available with 'buckers and the vibrato.
I can't remember exactly what it's called, but it isn't "HH" - that's only the name for the all-black model that's officially available outside Japan. The regular CIJ Jag with 'buckers and fixed bridge is called a Jaguar Special. I have one. It's very nice.
Anyway, nobody has to route anything, they're already available if that's what you want. A diligent web search should turn up the details.

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
Found it. It's called the HJG-66KC (KC as in Kurt Cobain).

That's why it's important to know the correct name, makes it a lot easier to find what you're after. The Roman numerals after the name seem to refer to different pickup options.
Your other option, of course, is to get single-coil sized humbuckers and put them in a regular Jag. There are many varieties available. I just don't think you should carve up a perfectly good guitar if there are alternatives available.

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
The pickups on the Jag HH are great. They even sound alot like regular Jag singles, only not as bright. I find that the HH is a true Jaguar and has alot of the vintage character in its sound.
I would think that those Jags you show with humbuckers would be great with Jag HH pickups.

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
If the jaguarness isn't important you could get a CIJ JM even and put buckers in, no need routing then right?mezcalhead wrote: Rather than buying a Jag HH and routing it for a JM trem block .. wouldn't it be easier to get a CIJ Jag and drop in humbuckers and a T-O-M?

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
But doesn't this one have the same kind of electronics as Cobain's Jag, i.e. Gibson style toggle switch and all that? I want all the fancy schmancy Jaguar electronics as well.djetz wrote: Found it. It's called the HJG-66KC (KC as in Kurt Cobain).

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
But the Kurt Cobain model doesn't have regular humbuckers. It has the same kind he used on his '65 (?) Jaguar. A Duncan PAF and a DiMarzio Super Distortion. At least that what it says on the site.Firefly wrote: There is a version on the kurt cobain Jaguar which appears have standard controls. Just has the humbuckers and a TOM, its the HJG-66KC IV

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
Well its a start, you could try and track down the original fender Jag HH pickups and change them, or put something else in.
There is a Jaguar on ebay at the moment in the UK which has been modded with a pair of seymour duncans. It looks like its been done quite well too. It's silver sparkle, all the hard work has been done to it. Just needs whatever brand of pickups you want to be dropped in.

Re: Question about Jaguar HH
Duncan PAF and DiMarzio SD are pretty industry-standard humbuckers, aren't they? Why would you prefer Fender Japan humbuckers?TheodorJ wrote:But the Kurt Cobain model doesn't have regular humbuckers.
