Ok, Older Brother and i agree: 2 3/8" for a XII heel.
I spoke to Ken Warmoth yesterday and we agreed his 12 neck would not fit. he recommended Subway Guitars in SF.

Re: new XII project
Oh, wouldn't a 12 with a JM vibrato be cool? I don't mean the 6 on 6 off idea I had, I mean all 12 strings on a JM vibrato. Has this ever been done before?

Re: new XII project
That's what I'm planning to do on my XII build, all I need is a body to put it on. I haven't heard of it being done before. There may be a very good reasonwardpike wrote:Oh, wouldn't a 12 with a JM vibrato be cool? I don't mean the 6 on 6 off idea I had, I mean all 12 strings on a JM vibrato. I would think 12 strings would have way to much pull for a trem. I wonder if you could get it up to pitch and in tune?

Re: new XII project
All just a matter of spring tension. That would call for some experimentation (or some mathematics)Joe Desperado wrote:I would think 12 strings would have way to much pull for a trem. I wonder if you could get it up to pitch and in tune?

Re: new XII project
Well, there is always the Bass VI trem. That seems to deal with the tension well.Joe Desperado wrote:I would think 12 strings would have way to much pull for a trem. I wonder if you could get it up to pitch and in tune?

Re: new XII project
did you talk to any of the builders on OSG? like stereordinary? i wonder if anyone could build a decent neck to vintage specs? i don;t see why not. and would probably be cheaper than a vintage neck but more expensive than a warmoth obviously. like what maybe the $450-500 range?

Re: new XII project
i have a few pokers in the fire. i was always optimistic that i could get a repro neck for it (if i threw enough $ at it)
anyone have any spare saddles?
otherwise, i'm going to grind down some Tusq tele saddles!

Re: new XII project
i would talk to mike (offyourface) or jay. i think they both have what you are looking for since you have a base plate. they have tele xii custom shop bridges like the one i sold to nickabulous for his build.
dunno if they want to let them go though. might already be involved in a project of their own.

i found saddles! hopefully they will be drop-in replacement.
i am debating whether i want to pay Angela SIXTY DOLLARS for a 4 way rotary switch. Sheesh.
