Very cool pic of MBV with their gear...

Post by Fall reverb » Thu May 24, 2007 2:47 pm

Here's a pretty interesting pic (probably taken during the 'Loveless'-tour) showing the 4 members of My Bloody Valentine plus Anna Quimby with a nice array of some of their guitars - what really surprises me is to see that a Gretsch Tennessean - the example held by Debbie Googe here was b.t.w. made in the 70's as far as I can tell - makes an appearance here, as I 've never seen any other MBV-pic where this guitar makes an appearance...enjoy the pic! ;)

They look like a gypsy gang.

That is a cool pic, I think I've seen it before somewhere.

You can see Debbie playing the Gretsch in this video for "to here knows when", also!

I posted some stuff awhile back from you tube and he was playing the gretsch on one of the songs.

You probably saw a small version of this pic here last year, Chris?

Thanks b.t.w. guys for the info about the other appearances of the Tennessean - like I wrote in my first post, I had never seen them with this particular guitar before, and I wonder if William Reid (JAMC) might have the inspirator for Shields to add this guitar to MBV's arsenal...

Yes, I'm also occasionally 'lurking' on several MBV-related forums, and I noticed that a certain "chrisjedijane" posts there regularly as well... ;)

The guitar closest to the camera is the Ibanez Jazzmaster!

My favorite CAR JM with matching headstock and tort guard is absent, though  :(

I've seen this one on the MBV forums before, was it from the same interview as the infamous Kevin swilling Corona incident?

....then that photo surely wasn't taken in Amsterdam in 1992... ;) I saw/heard MBV when they played at the 'Paradiso' in 1992, and not only was it by far the loudest concert I have ever attended, but I also clearly remember that miss Googe at one point (between songs) hit a couple of strings of her Fender-bass, and as a result the floor of the venue seemed to be literally rumble/shake from the bass-vibrations... :o
That ominous rumble should have been a good warning for all attending this gig, as shortly after the band would launch into their final song, "You Made Me Realise"... :D
