I haven't tried one firsthand, but I have heard lots of good feedback about them. The only thing that I don't like is the 34" scale, but that's just me. It might be an advantage for some folks.

My bandmate has one. It's a good bass and the active/passive switching is very nice. It sounds really good. Slapping's especially cool on it.

My bass player got one.  Nice bass.  The only drawback is the active electronics are not that useful: the bass boost makes it too bassy, and the treble boost too trebly.  It I knew what I was doing I'd rewire it to change one pot to allow you to adjust which frequency is being boosted and use the other to boost it.

I've played on 'em a few times, and they're pretty nice. But, I don't know, they're just like a glorified Jazz Bass, in a way... same pickups, similar neck profile. Yet, if you're looking for even more of the Fender Offset look (ala Jag and Jazzmasters), for your bass, then go for it. You can't go wrong with a Fender offset bass.

I've played one, it plays real easy, and that's the floor model at Guitar Center. I enjoyed that it wasn't too heavy but not too light.

Sorry, can't help you.  I love mine.  :D

As already mentioned, it is pretty much a Jazz Bass with Jaguar body and a spin on the electronics.  I've also noticed the bass & treble adjustments are a bit finicky (easy to add too much), so I usually just leave these preset and don't change when I'm playing.  They do add a nice boost for funk and slap.

One minor nit.  There is really not a true passive or bypass mode.  It will work without the battery, but the signal is not very strong.  If you didnt like it, you could always wire it anyway you like.

I think it would be hard to go wrong with one of these.  The red has matching HS, while the black doesn't.  There are also a few on EBay now from Japan in sunburst, and with the blocks it looks really great.

i didn;t care too much for the neck radius.  IMO; too curvy and narrow.

That's pretty much the signature of a Jazz Bass neck.  The P-Bass neck is wider at the nut, and a bit beefier in profile. Vintage style necks in general tend to have a rounder radius.   Many modern bass necks have a flatter radius, if that's what you're looking for.

I really like how my Jazzbass sounds and feels. How would the Jag-Bass compare?

The more modern Jazz Basses (i.e. Am. Std) will have a wider radius than the CIJ ones, right?

Pretty darn close iMHO.  If you like passive electronics, you could rewire, but I think it sounds great as is.  I"ve always been a Jazz Bass fan, and when I saw the Jag and read the specs, I ordered one.
