Sunn 0))) Amps...
I'm starting look into buying a new amp head for around the time I arrive in London.
What's the deal with Sunn amps? I've been listening to a lot of Sunn & Boris lately and while I don't play that style of music, I really love the clarity and depth to the guitar sounds. They seem very dynamic.
Has anyone had any experience with them?

If ya can get a cheap sunn beta lead get it!
Kurt gigged one during bleach era and Buzz (melvins) uses one at times. Its a FET circuit thats why it sound so good.
If i can ever get one I'll do away with tube amps for good.................probably.

It's not about the gear! It's about you, your hands, your imagination, your feelings.

Loud as hell.
And waaaaaaaay too expensive at the moment. Wait a while for the Sunn0)))/Boris thing to fade a bit.
The bandwagoneers will take off, and prices will drop. Voila!

Not to nitpick, but they were actually Coliseum Lead heads. He and Kazu each used to use one then, when we toured with them, she had switched back to using an unloaded Fender vibroverb into a vox 4x12 and Amedeo had both Coliseum Leads stacked on a RI marshall 4x12. He only used one of them at a time though... one of our amps died during a soundcheck and he actually lent us his spare. Very gentlemanly-like.Superfuzz wrote: When I saw Blonde Redhead, Amedeo Pace had two Sunn beta lead heads..fantastic sound..

Re: Sunn 0))) Amps...
I've had slight experience with two. My guitar teacher had a Beta Lead that sounded fantastic although I don't ever recall hearing anything but his and my Les Pauls through it. Another guitar player in a band I was in had a Solaris (I think). The Solaris sounded about 30 bazillion times better than my Twin Reverb II's clean channel. It had less volume and head room of course, but damn did it sound good with his MIJ Jag and Tonebender.
Bigger in sum than parts.
