Jazzmaster copy

I could be wrong, I was thinking of this:

It's the Ventures Jazzmaster from Fender Japan. It's obviously different.

The one from this thread has a Strat neck, by the way...

Are you 100% sure about this, fullerplast?
Look at the headstock - there's no indication whatsoever that this Jazzmaster was actually made by or for Fender (Japan), as far as I can tell.

yeah, it is not even the same normal headstock, I am going to email the guy to find out some stuffs about it

Body contours don't look right, especially the rather pointy top horn. :-\

I had somehow overlooked your post, fullerplast...

At any rate, I've been 'googling around' a little bit, but so far I've been unable to find out what company ('The Ventures' doesn't appear to be an existing manufacturer of guitars

) actually made these guitars, but it appears that these Jazzmasters must have been part of a very limited special run that was made in Japan at the time.

Yes, I was googling it as well. It kept coming up with Don Wilson's new line of Ventures guitars, based on the mosrite.

But I'm SURE I've seen this 35th Anniversary thing somewhere... eBay I guess.

The Fender Japan Ventures JM that I posted above is what confused me.

As detailed in the photos of the neck pocket, the guitar was built by S. Takahashi, who I believe is one of the builders in a shop called T-Guitars, a custom guitar shop in Japan. It does come with a case. This guitar is of better quality than any Fender production Japanese Jazzmaster I have ever come across. It does come with a case.

I'm curious why he would think it's so much "better" than standard MIJ fare... aside from the pickups.

It's not even an accurate copy. It has a Strat neck with a skunk stripe and modern tuners. Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that, but I'm not sure how it's 'better'. Unless S. Takahashi suddenly becomes dead and famous, it just seems like hype. And any "collectible value" is drawn from a very small pool of Ventures fans or Oddball Guitar Collectors.

Anyone can assemble a JM from parts, which is what this looks like. I don't see it as necessarily "better" than a Warmoth JM or something. No offense to anyone interested in it. It's just that I personally don't think it's anywhere near worth the money.

I doubt this guitar will ever be collectable, especially seeing as how the only people who know who S. Takahashi is is S. Takahashi and the guy selling the guitar.

The shapes all wrong for a jz and its even wrong for a jag.
its also way expensive for a Japanese fender (which its not),even an upgraded one.about 150 short of a new US jz price.
Unless you want this specific guitar for other reasons I'd stay away from it as its not worth it imo.
