Sure, I'll need to 'play' one to make final judgement, BUT...

Extremely frustrating to see Fender/Squier bust out the maple on an extreme budget model. And thusly, extremely skeptical of the Squier neck. Buying a MIM or Squier neck nowadays is often a huge roll of the dice. How many crummy exposed frets will there be that need filed down?

WHY does Fender refuse to offer maple neck variety on a more up-scale model? Why are there no maple thin skin/avri JMs? Shame on Fender for not having OPTIONS at every level aside from matching headstock or sunburst. I don't want to buy spare parts, spend $5k+ on ebay for a vintage black block jazzy, or buy a damn Warmoth neck. I also don't want the damn Fender Custom Shop logo on my guitar (along with at $5k pricetag) in order to get what I want. I want a stock maple Jazzy that isn't a goddamn Squier.

i feel exactly the same. i love maple necks much more than rosewood ones, and fender insists on the rosewood even when (imho) maple is much more caractheristic in fender guitars.

Cheers. I'm guessing I'll get a lot of 'you're just uppity' posts, but please, its not that way. I have no branding issues. I am not embarrassed to play a Squier, but I am embarrassed to be forced to buy something with extreme quality issues.

Fender will likely make a rainbow/unicorn/tie-dye JM with matching headstock before they make an avri maple. Thats just how they wear their ass-hats.

I know, it pisses me off too that there isn't really a JM for me that I can afford. I don't care that much about it being a Squier though as long as it's good - a Classic Vibe Jazzmaster would suit me perfectly. I'm thinking of pushing my JM purchase into the further future and getting another guitar for now.

Just tried to post a longer story of my Squier Jazzmaster i got 3 hours ago, bridge on it is very solid, pups feel real etc., but my post disappeared. I try later with pics when i have my camera back in 4 hours or so again.

Supposedly, the Fender rage on having rosewood fretboards started somewere around '59/60's because Leo himself didn't like the way maple fretboards looked when he saw artists using strats and teles on TV. So I guess it was nothing more than aesthetics-

If you check most, if not all of the early 60's reissues ('62 is the flagship year), everything has got rosewood on it.

I agree fully on more options on the offsets from Fender. Especially when they're the top of the line, cream of the crop models like AVRI or Thin Skin. FWIW, if these come out of the same factory as the earlier Indonesian Vintage Modified series the necks should be very good. I have a '51 and Tele Custom from that line that have some great satin poly necks that play very well. I've not seen any of the India factory ones to compare the neck quality there.

That is more and more a thing of the past, at least concerning Squiers. I recently bought a Classic Vibe Thinline Tele, and was offered a Vintage modified Precision Bass. None of them has exposed frets, both necks are perfectly finished. Even the soldering of the electronics is very clean, and they use full size Alpha pots. I bought an Allparts one piece maple Tele neck for another project, it is made in Japan, apparently in the Fender factory and I had to file all the fret ends, not to mention that the lacquer was sprayed over the frets and not removed.
If there was Classic Vibe Jazzmasters and Jaguars... I wouldn't think twice before buying one. Squier will soon make MIM Fender obsolete.

All of the major changes to the JM are somewhat understandable, that is, I can see their logic, but the toggle movement to where I'm sure to hit it every time I strum, that, that's just them fucking with me.

I got to try the offsets for 10 minutes today. They looked and felt awesome! The Jaguar neck felt just like the neck on my 69' reissue Mustang, and I don't really like maple fretboards, but the Jazzmaster neck was smooooooooth that i fell in love with it and ordered one. I'll have it within 1,5 week

If i were blind I probably wouldn't be able to notice the difference between a Squier Offset and a Fender Japan Offset.

The only thing i didn't like about the Jaguar and the Jazzmaster was the pots, cause they felt crappy and loose, so I'm going to change them on the Jazzmaster I'm getting.
And for those who don't like the bridge and want a trem on it, I don't think it gonna be difficult. It's just one small hole from the bridge screw that easily can be covered if you make a new pickguard thats about 5 mm longer.
