That's all you had to say!lajk64 wrote:Got my new Butterscotch Squier Jazzer last night and LOVE it!! As the proud owner, for the past 25 years, of 4 vintage 60's Jazzers, I have exclusively played these great guitars in an aggresive 3 piece classic rock band. So how does the Squier compare? First, I love the styling. It has that early Tele/Esquire/Broadcaster/Nocaster look n' vibe that has always appealed to me. The quality of the finish is superb and I only wish the black pick up covers has some contrast from the black pickguard. I'm thinking about scotchbriting the pickup covers to dull the the glossiness down. Maybe. The maple neck is awesome! Nice deep smooth vintage aged tint, great frets (!!), coolio headstock decal and action/intonation surprisingly decent/playable out the box. Finally the sound..... first of all I am a 100% bridge pup player. While my 99' Fender Hot Rod Deville 2x12" was warming up I tuned up. The vintage (Kluson look) style tuners were smooth and it tuned up great. With the amp on the gain channel with 3/4 gain and 1/4 volume it flat rocks. The stock Duncan design pup has a warm growl yet with nice clarity with amp gain. Very musical. Not quite as chimy/resonant as my heavenly fav 66' pup but better that my 64' and 65'. I am not planning a pup change. With the clean channel it was very sweet as I played Pipeline with the reverb on 5. Wonderful! It has the classic Jazzmaster tone. After it has a chance to season a bit I will have it totally pro set with neck angle and fret end magic plus my string of choice, Ernie Ball Power Slinkys, .011"- .048" (purple pack). Overall very pleased and better than expected in all aspects! Thanks Fender for a superb (and cheap at $300) variation of my favorite guitar design!! :-)
