Re: new XII project
Very nice--and yeah, it sounds like a warm silver would work better.

Re: new XII project
Echo: i wish i had advanced more. the XII body needed more work than i thought. i had to dowel all the holes and re-level, adjust routing for the control plate, etc. the neck too has been a bitch. i've also been putting in more work on my tele, jazz bass and jazzmaster projects.
AND i'm going to be a dad, so i'm pretty busy with a pregnant wife.
You want a XII project? want to buy one ready to go?

Re: new XII project
hey guys!
despite the fact i had 12 or so cans of reranch in my office, my inca silver disappeared! combined with being busy with a pregnant wife, my XII project was set aside. the neck butt (of the CS neck) needed a tiny bit of reshaping to fit the 65 pocket... there were minor adjustments to make to the body with a dremel so everything would fit the shrunken and warped pickguard... bolt holes had to be redone as CS Fender in 2005 didn't have the 1965 specs from Leo anymore.... i had to move the control plate 3-4 mm forward to have an approx fit!!
Then i found the paint this week, and got back to the body! as you can see here, i did some decent work----

But the day i was painting, bad luck struck down my dreams! .... the paint had almost dried, and i hung the body from a coat rack for final drying.... the hanger broke and the body fell to the floor, hitting a radiator on the way down!

So much progress, then kicked in the n*ts! i have more work ahead of me now!

Damn, just watched this thread again yesterday and wondered what had happened and here you are!
Too bad on the radiator thingy. But it'll look totally killer once that's finished.

Re: new XII project
Ouch! I can realy imagine how you felt when it dropped...still, it's a pretty clean-looking dent. Are you going to try to fill and re-touch it or just leave it there as character?
It's a lovely colour combo for a XII.

Re: new XII project
i think i have a date with:

(plastic wood)
indeed, the silver is really nice. but i'll dare give it a little yellow nitro so that it matches better the very yellowy mother of toilet seat guard.
Such as this 1965 example:

Re: new XII project
Ouch!
Ovel all, it's looking real good though! It will be a killer when completed.

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?
