bets are the pups will be avri

J (apparently) is up for stock vintage pups
so the avri's would be close enough for Fender to deal with!

tenner says its AVRI's

Hi I'm late to the party as always... :-)

I have re-written(and translated) my article on the trem-setup for this"Gitarre & Bass"  issue. And guess who dropped the link to this forum? ;-)
I haven't seen the printed issue yet, I am very eager to see what they have made out of my writings...

Must.buy.tomorrow.

cheers

I just bought the mag... they moved the article to the "tech" section and made it a double-page. :-)
The whole issue is very Jazzmaster-heavy - and as far as I can see from the first glances, well-researched, too. They even are give-away two JMs for new abonements... one JMascis model and one CIJ.. nice  :)

Hey Webrocker, great article! At first I did not realize it was you who wrote it, I was just thinking "I know these images from Tom's website..." ;)

It's interesting to see that one of the give-away JMs is sponsored by Fender Europe (the CIJ), and the Mascis JM by a recording company. Usually, all of the Gitarre & Bass give-aways are sponsored by the official german distributor of the product/manufacturer (i.e. Fender = Fender Europe/Düsseldorf, Marshall = Musik Meyer/Marburg etc.) - so I wonder if the Mascis JM is distributed by FENDER or another company? Today I checked Fender's official 2007 price list - there is no Mascis Jazzmaster...

Why is J so embarrassed about using Jazzmasters?

There's an interview with him in a free gear mag called Reverb they give away at Soundcontrol shops, and he was asked what guitars he uses. From memory he says "Telecasters and  Les Paul Juniors for rhythm. For lead I always use Fenders."

He's been associated with Jazzmasters for over a decade, has a signature one coming out and can't bring himself to mention it in a GEAR interview. ::)

I think you are talking about diggin up bones, it was written when he was playing mostly on telecasters, you can also see this in videos like I don't think so and Fell the pain...

and that was waaay before the signature was even considered, even dinosaur jr was not re-formed jet.

But I also read that the last album was recorded mostly on telecaster.

The fact is that live he plays mostly jazzmasters, and is well known by them so it seems appropriate to have a signature one...

I think this is a post-reformation interview...it's got talk of everyone (Lou and Murph included) being fatter and greyer and whether or not it's for the money.
