Nice take on a VI.
I would like to see V and VI versions of this one.
Competition Stripes make them play FASTER.

jeez, for that price you might as well wait for an MIJ reissue to come around on ebay or something.

Still, it is pretty cool, and maybe if ESP is doing it than that might be just enough to prod Fender Japan into doing something a bit more affordable...

one can hope!

I wouldn't mind one... in LPB or Black... with blocks n' binding... ::drool::

oh man, as if I need VI gas right now.. oof.

Well the possible coolest part is that someone is making the 4 switch panel and the volume control plate that look like they would fit a project Bass VI. Not sure if you could get the parts separate though.

I really wish somebody would make a single cutaway, big bodied hollow 6 string bass. That would be superb.

I don't really tend to pay much attention to basses, so I'm a bit confused by the PUs.  Is that type of 8 pole piece arrangement common?  Would that be some sort of oddly stacked humbucker?

In any case, that's a sharp looking bass.

+1.  It's even a bit offset!  I've always liked the SG body styles (even though they tend to be neck heavy, but the "offsetness" of this one would help a bit).  The color on this one is really cool as well.  It's those Japan designers again -- I say let them loose and we'd all have some great guitars and basses!

I love the looks.    Great design overall, but the bridge plate needs to be moved out of the pickguard. Are they 30" or 34" scale?  Basses with 34" scale tend to have the bridge closer to the butt end of the body. Also, I'm not sure how the pickups would sound though for real bass, not Bass VI.

Looks like 34" to me. The pickups seem to be a unique ESP design for bass, I'm guessing.

That's pretty normal for a bass pickup, two pole pieces per string. Jazz basses have it, P basses too really.
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

We've actually got this covered - there's a guy in France making them. Here's the post with details.

Relatedly, ESP has made an 27"-scale offset SG baritone for quite a while now.  They're pretty affordable, although they are a touch on the metallic side:

Yeah, by my guess in regards to the pickups, is that they are simply 3 Jazz style pickups underneath a different looking type of cover.
