Well, it's 35 louder, isn't it?    ;)

I love when pepole go to play on those, and they turn the knob "down" to 2, and then turn the amp on and shit their pants from terror at the feedback.

They are loud!  The Master Vol on the drive channel is so touchy.  I've never had mine above 2!

I want a Showman but it's a bit more expensive than say a silverface twin reverb. The 65 showman that is at the store near me was owned by a friend of mine. I was actually going to buy it from him with the matching 2x15 cab but he sold it the day I was going to to ask him about buying it. Just my luck.

I'm also not looking forward to spending any more money on getting another cab or buying new speakers. I would also prefer it to have reverb.

There is a Silverface twin(seems like a '70) going for $1000cdn and the showman head is $1350.

I'll try both out, I suppose. :(

Jimmy.

Jimmy.
Wow thats a lot for just a head.
Id get the SF twin and have it Bf'aced (or not it would cost like 50 bucks to do), that seems like the better deal. Ive got an early silverface dual showman (68)and it sounds great so I dont put too much stock in the Bf vs Sf debate. (or the reissue Vs vintage for that matter Ive played my showman through my RI twins speakers for comparison and it wasnt blow me away better or anything)

also there is a dual showman w/ reverb but they are probably hard to find and I think only SF

Too bad about the 65 showman w/ 2x15 thats  :? :? :?

Craig's list...I see a Twin Reverb reissue there in Toronto for $850...plus I found this one in Niagra:

...it looks like there is a pretty healthy instrument trade in Toronto - I would keep my eyes peeled on Craigslist every day for a few weeks.

Infliktor had a Dual Showman for sale just before I bought my Twin.  I should have bought it... :(  I just didn't want to deal with a piggyback setup.  Now I want one! ::)

Yeah, I don't want to deal with one either.

I have a piggy back set up at the moment and it's perfectly fine. It's just that I'd have to buy new speakers in order make a showman head work with my 70 watt cab. BOOO. I want one though. I especially want an Ampeg V4.

I hear it's because they use linear not audio pots for the volume.. dodgy!
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

yep, you hit the nail on the head fireaarro - it's a trick that Fender do to fool you into thinking that the amp is much louder than it actually is when you try it out in the shop. My Blues Deluxe doesn't get any louder after about 3 or 4, it just gets more distorted. It's a pain in the ass when you're playing on stage and are asked to turn the amp down, and it literally goes from too loud to off...

the tone is lovely, though.
