Has anyone switched out their pickguard? I'm curious as to how Metallic KO looks with a mint or tort guard.

Anyone add a mute? I just got all of the parts and am debating whether or not to put it on.

No bone to pick. I went back and edited my post a week later. Unlike other sites, there is no marker of this on the bottom. I did not realize this. I do concede this comes across confusing and understand the problems with trolls on websites.

I am truly on the fence about this and it is a lot of money to spend. $1,500 is a lot for me to spend on a guitar unseen.

I am greatly appreciative of the feedback I have gotten from Mekhem who responded to the criticisms of the Jaguars had no problem addressing them and was not angered.

Please don't make accusations like that of me. It is untrue and only serves to stir up trouble.

That they were from another person was not clear at all. I don't know that they were 'accusations', but perhaps you could re-read your own posts again and note how confusing they are due to the use of ambiguous language like 'this person' and 'the person understands they have not played the guitar' with no context given at all that you're quoting someone else's words (no quote marks or quote tags used).

Frankly the criticism seems completely non-'constructive' regardless, as whoever the mystery-man is that wrote it is completely clueless about the modifications that come standard on the Marr signature model, and (seemingly) completely clueless about Fender offsets in general because he doesn't like them from the outset.

I agreed I was not clear. It does say "the person" so no it was not me speaking about myself in the third person.

The mystery person is my guitar teacher who has been playing Fenders for forty years. He knows Fenders quite well.
He knows how to wire, build and so on guitars and amps. I know his work first hand as he set up a Fender Musicmaster amp for me.

If you like, I can call on one of the mods I know personally to back me up on who this person is.

If not, you can accept my apology a second time and we can move on.

Unless we have nothing better to do.

I couldn't care less who it is. They make it clear from the outset they hate all the features of offset guitars that we're fairly fond of here and didn't bother to even look at the Marr's specs.

I work on my own guitars, amps and effects and I don't especially like Strats or Les Pauls. Doesn't mean they're poor guitars.

And to smooth the feathers upset by the criticism of the jags which was solidly addressed, I will add another person's reply to the criticism of MJs

This is not me speaking, it is another person. This person is saying good things in a rebuttal to the criticism just to be clear.

The neck!!?!? really??? The freaking neck?!?! The JM neck is EXACTLY the same as a Strat neck aside from having a nicer looking curve to the headstock. My '61 neck blows away any neck I've ever played on. Jag's are basically the same profile in most cases (some are deeper like the Marr, some are soft V's which aren't my favorite but still fine) just short scale.

The trem FAR exceeds any others I've used which is a big part of why I've stuck with JM's

The tilting bridge allows fluid bending while not affecting tuning stability... if you want/need individual height adjustment get a JM/Jag or Mastery bridge, I've had them all and never found any issue with a stock Mustang bridge.

He's correct about them looking cool... but that's about all he's correct on."

Hey Saturday, thanks for the explanation. I get what you're saying now, although it really was confusing. I wasn't trying to accuse you of anything or trying to be a dick, I was really just baffled.

Regardless, I just got my first Jag after playing Strats for over 25 years. I'll never go back - it is the most comfortable, best sounding, fun to play instrument I've ever owned. I'd imagine the Johnny Marr version is even better.

I have seen a jag with an aged CAR finish with tort, it was awesome, and being played by Keven Shields

I was looking for a picture of it but can't find one. I'm familiar with his CAR Jazzmaster and his Burgundy Mist Jag.

It seems like all of the pictures I can find of vintage faded CAR Jags all still have white pickguards. I guess by the time they started using the gold undercoat, they were using plastic pickguards instead of celluloid.

I think a vintage-style red tort would look mighty fine, but it seems to me that the AVRI pickguards would clash with the orange somewhat.
