Does anyone have any sound clips of these? Does anyone know of any records that have a good example of these being used? Lots of people use them but I have no idea what they sound like so I'd be lost on a record of say Swervedriver or whatever.

I don't know if anyone recording with one as much as they used one live... when you're in the studio, chances are you're gonna use amp gain. Depending on the studio, they might have 5 different vintage Marshalls to choose from.
The HM-2 does the cranked 50 watt Marshall sound great at useable stage (club) volumes. It's not really a JCM800 sound, it's more like a late '70s 2204 Master volume. It's not metally like the MT-2, it's more classic rock sounding if you compared the two. The great thing is when you play open-type chords with HM-2, they really ring out giving you that JM thru a Marshall Swervedriver/MBV sound. But then again, it depends on your amp. The tone controls on the HM-2 have a wide range so they're a bit sensitive in a way. I only set mine one way, the L goes at about 3 o'clock and the H goes between 1 & 2 o'clock. The set the gain at about 10 or 11 o'clock. This usually going thru my '69 Bassman head. If i'm using my old Marshall, I lower the L tone on the HM-2 'cuz it's a bottom-heavy amp in certain amps.

hehehe, I was just reading my Boss Book... I guess Eric Clapton used an HM-2 along with a CE-1 for "Forever Man" 
Also, David Gilmour used one in the '80s... he also used the 'Metallizer' model as well

I tried a HM-2 at a shop using a cheap Greco Ric copy (which wasn't that great) once- the thing I noticed was that you could hear each note in a chord pretty clearly. Does that seem right to y'all?

If you are looking for a cold and aggressive distortion, you're right, but only in that case.
I found it (in every sense 'cause I found it under a table after a terrible party at 5 am) too "one-way" sound.
There are a lot of better distortion pedal around imho.
I look rigs and pedalboards like every guitarist, but I don't trust so much about Guitargeek, pro guitarists have always supermega guitar-amp-effects technicians that can make really a big difference, and I don't think that Clapton and Gilmour' sound will be remembed for HM-2 contributione.

now, the pedal went to canada and back by accident, and at this point the seller realises that he doesnt want to give his first pedal away for 20 bucks and offers me a refund without sending it and makes it look like it got lost in the mail.
