Well, I love Johnny Marr but my guitar is going back.
I think its case of Fender have rushed the production.
Paint probably wasn't cured. There are imperfections in the paint (a bubble and a gap near the neck joint), really bad marking on the back that is in the paint now, so it is just dull, looks like the case has marked it if they put it in when it wasn't finished. I've had this on a Jazz bass before where the final coat wasn't cured and it basically took the case pattern into the paint and it set.
The pick guard isn't cut right around the pickup switch or near the truss rod adjustment, and looks very tight like its been forced on. The control panel with the vol tone has a dip in the chrome....just very messy.
The paint is the worst thing. It looks bad on them to let these out. The paint is obviously the proper old nitro and I was concerned of reports that it is super thin, but I didn't expect it to turn up with so many marks and imperfections. It's really hard to catch on photos but the back of the guitar is not great...in the light you can see where its rested on the velvet of the case and its embedded the pattern into the paint. It hasn't happened on the front as the front doesn't sit against it like that.
The case is lovely, but the guitar is a let down. I know they aren't all like this. It does also weigh a ridiculous amount for a guitar, and I'm used to bass.
There are other small things that let it down...just QC wise, so it will be going back. What a shame.
