I bought wood for this thing today. I went with poplar. This piece was ALMOST wide enough to do a one-piece body, but it is very clear and has a pretty uniform grain.
I also found some maple I am about to use for my longer Jaguar conversion neck
I laid out some of the parts on the will-be blank...
And I got a package containing the rest of the parts. The neck is AMAZING! beautiful checking and yellowing all over it... Very very thin fretboard. I'm inspired by it. But the heel is almost 1/4" wider than a standard fender heel, so I will REALLY need to make a new template for the neck pocket (I was planning on using a tele neck pocket then gluing in a curved piece of wood to fill the void in the neck's crescent heel, since the diameter on my router bit is bigger than the points on the corners of the heel)
Glueing things up today, then getting started making sawdust on Wednesday.
I don't know if he mentioned the color choice on this thread yet, but it's gonna be so eye-catching that I am about to build my next guitar in the same scheme...
