Love the pink!

I got one question regarding the tuners. Now half of the head's tuner holes are empty.
I'm wondering, would'nt it be nicer to string this one up like Harvester does?
Meaning, skipping a tuner hole at each side. This way the headstock will look more busy.
And the empty tuner holes more dispaired.
I'm still on the fence on this subject. I do dig Harvester's stuff. I actually intended to fill the extra tuner holes with dowel rod and dark stain the ends; but neither of the Andrews could bring themselves to do it on a 40-year old neck! As is (with the close tuner configuration), the whole thing kind of reminds me of an anteater!

Oh, I would not fill the tuner holes that are not used. I actually think they look kind of nice.
It would just make the headstock stand out more, espeically with the Bass V body.

Though I like the anteater idea too.

Kozak built it, Smith did the finish... and now it's on me to do the assembly. Problem is, I'm pretty useless at most things involving skill.

Holes have to be drilled, parts fitted, and a nut added. I have screws coming (if anybody needs authentic-spec nickel pickguard screws, I'm gonna have them en masse soon), and I'm going to be aging all the metal parts with muriatic acid as soon as the screws arrive. I can't have that wickedly aged/relicked body and 40+year-old neck loaded with shiny new metal, dig?

I ordered a precut bone nut, since I'm really not qualified to do slotting- although I will have to radius the bottom since vintage Fender necks don't have flat-bottomed nuts.

Finally, the wiring will have to be done. Luckily this is one task that I CAN do with some level of confidence/competence.

I'm itching to have this thing together and playing, but I've learned that patience is crucial is such things. My initial impulse was to rush the thing together, but I know I would've regretted it in the end. You can be sure though, that when it IS done; you'll be seeing and hearing it! ;)

All that extra space on the headstock- there'd be room to hide one of these http://www.sustainiac.com/model-c.htm if you're that way inclined, maybe run the wire down inside the neck (not much extra work! ) Could add to the "monster" vibe this guitar already has....

Awesome can't wait! My fav guitars are the non popular CBS ones.
Anyone on here ever make a repro Bass V? Be tough I'm sure because of the 15 fret neck and 5 string Mustang bass style pickup...but man I'd love one of these basses!
I finally got to see one in person a few weeks ago in Providence...problem was it was selling for $4700! :wtf:
That and the Swinger are my 2 dream guitars for sure...I'm weird like that. :P

The genuine V is a future dream acquisition of mine. It WILL happen... just a matter of when.

As for the Swinger... got a build coming soon... Jag neck... stay tuned.

The pocket REALLY hold the neck.
I finally finish building a guitar, go to play it, and then remember, "oh yeah, that's right. I suck at playing... Why did I build another guitar again?"

Yes!!! I was thinking about this guitar a couple weeks ago. Seems every time I come across a Bass V picture this thing comes to mind :freako:. What ever happened with this glorious abomination?

I somehow missed this thread but I have seen the XII/V body on other threads here. I absolutely LOVE this idea & would love to build one myself but can't find a Bass V template anywhere. Does anyone know where I can round one up?
